The renter is deemed to have received the vehicle, being the E-chopper, in good condition. The lessor has delivered the vehicle in good condition. The renter must only use the vehicle for its intended purposes and must return it in good condition. This will be checked afterwards by the lessor.

The renter declares that all persons in the reserved group have taken note of these conditions, that all drivers are in possession of a valid driver's license, and that all drivers are familiar with the general traffic rules in the Netherlands. If the group wishes to drive into Germany, the German traffic rules will be explained verbally by the lessor. Renters must always drive on paved and/or asphalted roads and handle the rented vehicle responsibly.

Since 1 January 2023, it is mandatory to wear a certified EU helmet while riding an E-chopper. A helmet is provided free of charge by the lessor. The lessor has helmets available. If a helmet is removed while riding, the lessor is not liable for any traffic fines. The renter may also bring their own helmet.

It is prohibited to ride the E-chopper with two persons on one vehicle. This is not insured. The lessor is not liable for any injury. Any damage to the E-chopper caused during the rental period by the renter will be charged to the renter. Costs arising from traffic violations, collisions or accidents will also be charged to the renter, regardless of whether these were caused by the renter or by third parties.

In the event of traffic fines, the renter should be aware that these may be charged retrospectively. In the event of loss of the helmet and/or keys, or if they are rendered unusable, replacement costs will be charged. The lessor maintains an administrative record of the rented E-choppers to prevent misunderstandings regarding damage or loss.

If the renter breaks down or something else happens requiring the lessor to come to the renter’s location, additional costs of €1.50 per return kilometer will be charged. For example, if the renter is located 10 kilometers from the starting location, €15 will be charged. If there is a technical defect in the E-chopper for which the renter is not responsible, or an accident caused by third parties, no costs will be charged.

The renter must park the E-chopper correctly and lock the steering when leaving the vehicle. If the vehicle is parked out of sight, the renter must do so in a safe place. The vehicle must be locked with the steering lock and secured with a chain lock to a pole, tree or another E-chopper. A chain lock is provided by the lessor with the rental.

It is prohibited to consume alcohol before or during riding the E-chopper. In addition, the use of drugs and/or medication that may affect driving ability is prohibited.

The lessor is at all times entitled to reclaim the vehicles if it appears that they are being used improperly. In that case, the renter will not receive any refund.

The E-chopper is insured with third-party liability coverage in accordance with legal requirements. The insurance covers damage and injury caused to another person or property. This is covered up to the maximum amounts stated on the policy schedule. For everything that is insured and/or subject to coverage limitations, reference is made to the policy schedule. The renter may request the policy schedule from the lessor at any time.

The lessor has personal accident insurance. This means that the driver of the E-chopper, owned by BlitzBikes, is insured if a traffic accident occurs when the renter is mounting, dismounting or experiencing a breakdown, resulting in permanent disability or death. This coverage applies regardless of whether the renter is liable for the accident. In the event of death, the insured amount of €5,000 will be paid once, in accordance with the policy schedule. In the event of permanent disability, the insured amount depends on the permanent injury sustained.

Upon the renter's return to the starting location, the E-chopper will be inspected for damage and any associated costs will be calculated.

In the event of theft or loss, the renter will be held liable for the replacement value. The daily value of the E-chopper is set at €2,000.

In consultation, the renter may purchase one or more extra hours before or during the rental to extend the rental period. The rental can only be extended in full hours for €5 per E-chopper per hour. This must be communicated in time, up to a maximum of half an hour before the end of the rental period. Extension is only possible if the E-chopper is available.

No refund will be given in the event of early return of the vehicle. If the agreed rental period is exceeded, the renter pays a surcharge of €15 per vehicle. This applies from 20 minutes after the end of the rental period if the renter is late without a valid reason. The renter may contact the lessor by telephone if they expect to return late. If a next renter cannot start because the current renter returned late, the lessor is entitled to charge the resulting lost rental income. This consists of the total costs of the renter who could not start.

The reservation may be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours in advance. Between 24 and 48 hours in advance, the renter will receive a refund of the purchase, but €10 per E-chopper will be charged. If the renter cancels within 24 hours or does not show up, with or without notification, no refund is possible.

In the event of sudden bad weather conditions, the renter has the right to cancel the reservation. This does not include drizzle, cold weather and/or strong wind. The lessor has the right to cancel the rental under certain weather conditions if the renter’s safety is at risk, at the sole discretion of the lessor. The renter’s costs will then be refunded to the main booker’s account. In the event of bad weather, it is also possible to reschedule the reservation.

It is not permitted to load the E-chopper with more than 140 kilograms, drive on or off curbs, ride on sidewalks, ride on unpaved or sandy roads, use the horn unnecessarily, ride too closely together, remove the helmet while riding, technically modify the vehicle, or lend the vehicle to third parties, sublet it or transfer the rental rights wholly or partially to third parties.

Renting and using the offered vehicles is entirely at the renter’s own risk. These rental conditions apply to all agreements with BlitzBikes.
